Specialist Dental Care Services for Children and Adults with Complex Needs

This is a contract opportunity to deliver specialist dental care services for patients who cannot receive treatment in general dental practice. The services cover two main areas: Special Care Dentistry for adults and vulnerable patients with additional needs (including physical or learning disabilities, complex medical conditions, severe mental health issues, sensory impairments, or extreme dental anxiety), and Paediatric Dentistry for children with advanced or complex dental requirements (such as extensive tooth decay, developmental anomalies, or dental trauma). Services must be delivered across multiple settings including community clinics, hospitals, and domiciliary (home-based) care for housebound patients. Treatment may include sedation or general anaesthetic options where clinically appropriate. The successful provider will be responsible for delivering tailored treatment plans, extended appointments, specialist facilities, early intervention, prevention education, and integration with wider health and social care pathways to reduce health inequalities and support vulnerable populations.
