    Brief

The MusicAbility Foundation is seeking suppliers for the renovation and extension of a Grade 2 listed building in Penzance, which will serve as a music centre focused on health and well-being. This project follows the establishment of a dedicated music therapy room in 2021, the only one fully equipped west of Bristol. The aim is to create a unique music centre that offers expanded music therapy services, teaching spaces, rehearsal areas, and event venues. This project is funded by a grant and must adhere to the conditions of the Heritage At Risk funding. Tenders will be evaluated based on the Most Economically Advantageous Tender criteria, with a focus on availability during the construction period due to tight timelines. The goal is to revitalize this historic building for public use, enhancing health, education, participation, and performance opportunities for the community in Penzance and West Cornwall. Phase One of the project, funded by a Town Deal Enterprise Grant, will create a second music therapy room and improve accessibility with level access and accessible toilets, scheduled for completion between August and December 2025. Phase Two, now open for tender, involves restoring the existing building to meet Building Control requirements and improve accessibility and layout based on community feedback. Key refurbishment tasks include: - Demolition of modern extensions - External wall repairs and waterproofing - Refurbishment of windows and rooflights - Upgrading heritage doors and staircases - Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing upgrades - Restoration of internal decorations and finishes. For more details on how to apply, please refer to the attached Invitation to Tender (ITT).
