Trauma-Informed Health Workforce Development for Vulnerable Children at Risk of Detention

This contract seeks a provider to design and deliver a comprehensive toolkit and expert support program that equips health and children's social care professionals with trauma-informed approaches to better serve children in care, especially those at risk of or subject to deprivation of liberty. The deliverables include: a competency framework defining required skills; multiple training options tailored to different roles; practical toolkit resources for day-to-day implementation; direct training delivery to staff; and ongoing supervision structures to sustain best practice. By embedding trauma-focused expertise within the Home Again pilot programs, this initiative enables co-located, multi-agency working that improves clinical decision-making, provides earlier and better-coordinated interventions, and reduces unnecessary escalation to crisis situations and deprivation of liberty orders. The solution must meet NHS quality assurance and clinical standards, strengthening support for vulnerable children while promoting evidence-based, trauma-informed care across the workforce.
