Kent Dental Health Program

Kent County Council intends to award a contract for a comprehensive Oral Health and Dental Epidemiology program. This program is part of the Provider Selection Regime (PSR) and is designed to monitor and improve oral health across Kent. The contract will ensure that biennial dental epidemiology surveys are conducted, in line with Public Health England's guidelines, to assess the oral health of the population. Key components of the program include the continuation of the Supervised Toothbrushing Programme, a pilot initiative in a special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) school, and quality assurance for the expanded toothbrushing program until December 2027. Additionally, the service will provide targeted oral health promotion, workforce training, and maintain a network of Oral Health Improvement Champions in Family Hubs and community settings. Collaboration with education, health, and community partners is essential to integrate oral health into broader health and wellbeing initiatives, ultimately aiming to improve outcomes for children and vulnerable groups in Kent.
