Brief
The contract aims to achieve the following objectives: The selective mapping of biotopes and FFH habitat types is intended to update the mapping of valuable biotopes across Lower Saxony, particularly in the central and northern regions, and includes the recording of FFH habitat types (LRT) outside of FFH areas. This is a selective mapping process, where only areas with ecologically valuable biotope types and LRT are to be recorded in detail within the specified study areas. The basic surveys are conducted as part of the implementation of the FFH Directive and serve to initially record FFH areas in Lower Saxony. The focus is on the initial recording of biotope types and FFH habitat types (LRT), assessing the conservation status of the FFH-LRT. The updating of three FFH areas is part of the LIFE project RePeat ("Restoration of peatlands in the Hannover Region"), which aims to implement management plans and restore natural water levels in the FFH areas 328 "Altwarmbüchener Moor", 093 "Rehburger Moor", and 097 "Trunnenmoor". In this context, an update of the basic surveys (including the representation of changes compared to the basic survey) will be carried out with the mapping of biotope and FFH habitat types in large parts of the three FFH areas and partially adjacent areas. The field investigations and mapping results will serve as the basis for subsequent rewetting measures under the LIFE project RePeat. The contract for monitoring FFH habitat types serves, under the FFH Directive, to record and assess the conservation status on the representative monitoring plots established for Lower Saxony, as well as to record occurrences found in the total census (recording all occurrences of rare LRT) during the current reporting period 2025-2031. This is a repeat survey, where mapping results from the previous survey (conducted mainly between 2021-2023) will be used for comparison. The estimated total contract value for the subsequent lots is approximately 732,000 EUR (net).
