Brief
This project involves the expansion of the residential facility at Schloss Stutensee, which provides housing for children up to 15 years old. The current staffing situation makes it difficult to fully utilize the residential groups, despite increasing demand. Particularly challenging are the evening and night hours, where staff work without support from an active night watch, leading to staff overload and difficulties in recruiting and retaining qualified personnel. Additionally, there is a growing need for care for children and adolescents with complex psychological issues, which cannot be adequately addressed during night shifts with solo staff. This has resulted in a shortage of urgently needed residential placements due to a lack of necessary personnel. To sustainably improve the care situation, a structural development is planned. This includes the physical merging of residential groups 19 and 20, along with the addition of a new residential group and several single apartments, to create shared support and night structures. An active night watch would support all groups and significantly improve working conditions. The project includes the following communal areas for all three residential groups: a foyer with a multifunctional lounge area (foosball, table tennis, etc.), a meeting room for about 8 people, a new central kitchen for all groups (existing kitchens will remain), a dining hall for about 30 people with a separable area for the new residential group, and at least two, ideally three, single apartments for intensive individual measures. The new residential group will feature an entrance with a cloakroom area, at least 8 resident rooms, each with a shower and toilet, two common rooms (playroom and living room), a staff office with a kitchenette, and a night watch office with direct access to the existing residential groups 19 & 20. The central communal areas will be located on the ground floor for easy access by all residential groups, while the sleeping areas of the existing groups are planned for the upper floor, including the new residential group and the night watch office for short distances and quick response capabilities. A detailed project description of the individual measures can be found in the feasibility study.
