Flood Protection Works in Spain – Contract for Adaptation to Flood Risk of Barxeta Stream. Phase I.

This project involves construction works aimed at adapting the Barxeta Stream to flood risk, which has been declared of General Interest. It is included in the investment list of the National Hydrological Plan, approved by Law 10/2001, and is part of the measures outlined in the Flood Risk Management Plan for the Júcar River Basin. The project includes the construction of the final section of the Barxeta Stream relief channel, approximately 800 meters long, from the current Barxeta crossing with the First Benivaire road to its confluence with the Júcar River, continuing the works planned in Phase II. To separate the flows of the Júcar River and Barxeta Stream from the urban area of Carcaixent, a protective embankment will be constructed north of the variant and before the overpass over the railway, using earth from the excavation of the new relief channel. Various environmental integration works are also planned, along with the restoration of affected services and roads, notably the CV-5440 road (restored via a service road on the left bank of the channel) and the Alborgí road, which will cross the new channel over five prefabricated concrete frames and connect to the aforementioned service road. Additionally, two roads will be constructed on the protective embankment. Funding is provided by the FEDER Operational Program for Spain 2021-2027.
