Street Safety Performance and Bystander Intervention Programme

This opportunity invites applicants to lead a multi-faceted initiative addressing violence against women and girls (VAWG) through creative, trauma-informed interventions. The programme responds to evidence showing that over 75% of young women and girls change their behaviour during summer to avoid unwanted sexual attention, and that 51% of girls aged 13-18 have experienced unwanted sexual comments. The successful applicant will be responsible for three integrated programme components: 1. Development and delivery of street-based performances co-created with young women and girls through participatory workshops 2. Delivery of community-based Bystander Intervention Training to equip the public with skills to respond to inappropriate behaviours 3. Support for a Communications Campaign to amplify messaging and extend programme reach The lead applicant (ideally a theatre group or performance organisation) will manage the entire project lifecycle from research and development through delivery and evaluation. All work must be delivered with trauma-informed practice, supported by specialist commissioning throughout. This is a pilot programme designed to test innovative, practical, and inclusive approaches to improving street safety for young women and girls.
