Software Modeling for Heating System Optimization

The University of Essex is inviting suppliers to submit tenders for the development of a comprehensive software model of the Low-Temperature Hot Water (LTHW) heating system at the Gateway Building in Southend on Sea. This project aims to analyze the performance of the heating system, identify inefficiencies, and provide recommendations for improvements that will enhance energy efficiency, lower carbon emissions, and reduce utility costs. The project involves creating a model that accurately simulates the hydronic behavior of the LTHW system. This includes a detailed representation of the entire hydraulic system configuration, its components, control logic, and the impact of varying outside temperatures based on local weather data. Additionally, the model must account for changes in the building's heating and cooling load, with a minimum resolution of one hour. The calculation engines should effectively model both hydraulic behavior and thermal energy flows across the entire system.
