This procurement involves excavation work for restoration and nature management, mechanical clearing, and whole tree harvesting, as well as local transportation in protected areas. The work is primarily part of the Helmi habitat program. Excavation tasks may include restoring drained wetland areas by blocking ditches and implementing dam structures, surface mounds, and other necessary measures. Additionally, excavation work may involve creating fire lanes and conducting excavation tasks in traditional biotopes and heat environments. Mechanical clearing includes tree felling and cutting work using energy grapples. Whole tree harvesting includes tree felling and cutting, as well as stacking and local transportation. Typically, clearing and whole tree harvesting are performed in drained wetland areas before blocking the ditches, where trees that would obstruct the filling of the ditches are cleared from the ditch lines. Depending on the work site, the cleared trees may either be left on-site or transported away. Excavation work for restoration and whole tree harvesting may also include other excavation work related to nature conservation and the responsibilities of Metsähallitus Nature Services, mechanical clearing, whole tree harvesting, or local transportation. The tasks to be performed during the framework arrangement are generally confirmed three times a year. The buyer is not committed to the estimates of workload presented in the tender request and its attachments. The contract is set to begin on January 1, 2026.
