Electric Bus Charging Infrastructure in Denmark

Bornholms Amts Trafikselskab (BAT) is transitioning from diesel-powered buses to electric buses, with plans to have 20 electric buses operational by March 2026. To support this, BAT and Bornholms Regionskommune (BRK) are seeking to establish a charging facility with 20 charging points for these electric buses. This procurement does not include the purchase of the electric buses themselves. The focus of this tender is on the delivery, installation, and commissioning of the charging points, as well as the provision and installation of lighting and camera surveillance systems. Additionally, the tender covers all necessary electrical work between transformer stations and the charging points, as well as the planning and execution of all excavation work required for the charging facility, including the establishment of pathways between bus parking areas and sidewalks at the charging facility. The tender also includes the operation and maintenance of the charging points and a software solution for a period of four years after the facility is handed over, with the option to extend for two additional one-year periods. The charging facility will be located at Industrivej 10, 3700 Rønne. The site has been prepared for the charging facility shortly before the tender, so existing orthophotos may not accurately reflect the conditions that the supplier will encounter at the start of the project. The site, currently used by BAT as a bus terminal, will continue to operate as a bus terminal during the construction period, and the central bus stop visible in the orthophotos will only be removed once the charging facility is completed. The driving area is gravel, and this will remain the case in the finished charging facility. In the tender documents, the terms 'Supplier' and 'Contractor' are used interchangeably to refer to the winning bidder with whom a contract will be signed.
