Brief
Notodden municipality is seeking a contractor to rebuild Heddal secondary school into Sem primary school. This project involves a turnkey contract for a two-story school building with a technical room on the second floor, covering an area of approximately 4,000 m². The existing school consists of three parts: Building A (classrooms for food and health), Building B (gymnasium with changing rooms and janitor rooms), and Building C (classrooms and personnel rooms). The vestibule connects these parts and includes an amphitheater and library. The project will also include the construction of an extension to Building B for a stage, an annex to Building C for easier access to classrooms, and additional classrooms and facilities in Building D. Reconstruction areas total approximately 675 m², with significant changes to the existing workroom in Building C to create student rooms. Improvements will also be made to the gymnasium, including new roofing and lighting. External works will include temporary parking, improved access for emergency vehicles, and development of outdoor areas with sports facilities and play equipment. Options for additional works include a universally designed foot and cycle path, expanded bus stop, parking, fencing, noise screens, sun screening, and a playhouse. Contractors will submit tenders for these options, and Notodden municipality will decide which to proceed with after selecting the turnkey contractor. The contract signing is planned for late January 2026, with access to the site for planning and design starting immediately after. The primary school is expected to open in autumn 2027, with annex D completed by April/May 2027 and all other work by mid-June 2027.
