    Brief

National Highways is conducting a second trial to evaluate the effectiveness of AI camera technology in monitoring and capturing instances of litter being dropped from vehicles on the Strategic Road Network (SRN). This initiative aims to gather evidence that can support enforcement actions against littering, in collaboration with Principal littering authorities, as National Highways does not have enforcement powers. The trial will utilize the existing camera system from the first trial and will include the procurement of two additional cameras and attachments to enhance monitoring across two live traffic lanes. The goal is to assess whether this technology can effectively support litter enforcement efforts.
