Biodiversity Enhancement and Drainage Improvement Works at Wormwood Scrubs

The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham is seeking a qualified landscaping supplier to implement the Alternative Ecological Mitigation (AEM) Masterplan at Wormwood Scrubs, an 80-hectare common land site in North London. The project aims to enhance biodiversity, improve surface water management, and increase public access through two phases. Phase 1 (Capital Works, 6-8 months) includes installing sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDs) with scrapes and swales, creating retention ponds in wet woodlands, planting trees, establishing meadows and grasslands, and installing hibernacula and bird/bat boxes. Phase 2 (10-Year Management Plan) involves maintaining all newly created features plus managing existing woodland, scrubland, and meadows through selective thinning and ongoing ecological management to maximize wildlife benefits and biodiversity. The supplier must demonstrate expertise in ecological habitat creation, sustainable drainage design, landscaping, and long-term environmental management.
