Electricity Supply Contract for 2026

The GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung GmbH (GSI) requires electrical energy to operate its buildings, research facilities, and other operational sites. The consumption points are located within the network area of e-Netz Südhessen AG. The annual consumption is currently around 57 million kWh for the year 2024 across approximately 12 consumption points. A detailed list of all facilities is provided in Annex LB 1 "AZ". An overview of the consumption points and quantities is shown in Annex LB 2 "Overview". The existing supply contracts will expire on December 31, 2025. This tender aims to award the supply starting from January 1, 2026, for one year. The campus and its infrastructures are currently undergoing renovation and expansion, which significantly impacts electricity consumption. In the energy sector, it is common for standard consumers to forecast future consumption based on past data. However, due to the reasons mentioned, this method leads to insufficient accuracy for energy procurement. Therefore, forecast values have been added for the three largest consumption points (based on the amount of energy consumed). The forecast values for each consumption point are listed in Annex LB 3 "Consumption Points List for Electricity". Additionally, there is a forecast simulation for the large RLM consumption points as a load profile, which is included in the tender documents in the file "LG 2026 Forecast". It is important to note that the power demand at the facility in Darmstadt fluctuates significantly, with variations of up to 6 MW. These fluctuations introduce additional uncertainties to any forecasts. The technical department will provide a quarterly operational and consumption plan. The forecasts will consider the planned use of the facilities, taking into account the renovation work and planned experiments. However, no guarantee can be given for adherence to the plan. Quantities mentioned in this performance description, the consumption points list, and the price sheet are not legally binding. The supplier has no right to the acceptance of the stated quantities.
