    Brief

Cambridge City Council, in partnership with Greater Cambridge Partnership (principal funder) and Darwin College (land leaseholder), invites experienced river restoration contractors to restore permanent water flow to seasonally dry channels at Sheep's Green Local Nature Reserve in Newnham, Cambridge. The channels have been historically disconnected from the floodplain due to artificial raising of the main river and Mill Race (Snobs Brook) to support historic water mills and recreational navigation. This is a sensitive restoration project on a public site near Cambridge's historic city centre. The successful contractor will design and deliver the scheme while managing environmental considerations, public access, and heritage sensitivities. Key requirements include expertise in river restoration, working on constrained urban sites, and managing stakeholder engagement. The project aims to restore natural hydrological function and enhance biodiversity at this important local nature reserve.
