    Brief

The Ferry Fields area consists of two main sections: a saline lagoon and a freshwater wet grassland. The saline lagoon is home to various wading birds and waterfowl, but it dries out significantly during the summer, leading to high salinity levels that hinder the growth of essential plants and animals. The wet grassland section also faces challenges in retaining water. While there are natural channels present, they are poorly defined and require improvement. Additionally, the area experiences significant predation from foxes and badgers, which poses a threat to ground-nesting birds and their chicks. This project aims to enhance the habitats in this area by: - Installing a sluice to improve water management - Reshaping the steep banks of the saline lagoon - Creating wetland features in the grassland to provide feeding areas for wading birds - Establishing a clear boundary between the lagoon and grassland by building a low bund - Installing a predator exclusion fence to reduce predation pressure on nesting birds. The total value of the project is £175,000, and it falls under the construction sector. Interested suppliers can find more details and submit their proposals by visiting the Contracts Finder website. The deadline for submissions is June 16, 2025.
