Feasibility Study for Zero-Emission Fleet Strategy

National Highways is seeking suppliers to assist in developing a strategy for achieving a zero-emission fleet by 2030, as mandated by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV). This project focuses on understanding the energy and power demands of our depots and outstations, particularly for Traffic Officer Vehicles (TOVs) that are co-located at these sites. The work will build on previous analysis conducted with Costain, which mapped TOV telemetry data to identify vehicle dwell locations and charging needs. The next phase will extend this analysis to all Traffic Officer outstations and other vehicle types within our mixed fleet locations. It is crucial to assess the electrical capacity requirements and demand profiles for various vehicle types to ensure necessary electrical upgrades are made, preventing costly disruptions. Additionally, this project will identify potential 'early adopter' sites for the transition to zero-emission vehicles and highlight locations that may face challenges due to current electrical capacity constraints.
