Support Service for Young Adults in Police Custody (Ages 18-25)

This opportunity seeks a provider to deliver a Custody-Based Intervention Service that engages young adults aged 18-25 at their point of contact with police custody. The service will provide trauma-informed, relationship-based support to help participants address unmet needs, build resilience and achieve positive outcomes. Key service components include: establishing trusted relationships with young adults; providing practical support; connecting participants to appropriate opportunities and services; supporting stability and mental health improvement; strengthening protective factors; and facilitating progression towards education, training and employment goals. The service contributes to a public health approach to violence reduction by helping young adults navigate the transition to adulthood, reduce vulnerability to violence and exploitation, decrease offending behaviour, and improve longer-term life chances. Suppliers should demonstrate expertise in youth work, trauma-informed practice, relationship-based support, and understanding of the needs of vulnerable young adults in the criminal justice system.
