Peatland Restoration and Rhododendron Control Services in Kerry, Ireland

This Call for Tender seeks a service provider to deliver environmental conservation and habitat restoration services across the Killarney National Park, Macgillycuddy's Reeks and Caragh River Catchment Special Area of Conservation (SAC 000365) in south Kerry, Ireland. The contractor will implement peatland restoration measures and invasive species management as part of a community-based ecosystem restoration programme, building on successful pilot projects completed in Galway, Mayo and Donegal (2021–2025). Key responsibilities include: controlling invasive Rhododendron ponticum populations; building local capacity among community members to address peatland habitat pressures; and engaging constructively with farmers and landowners to support voluntary conservation efforts. The contract will run for an initial 12-month period beginning August 2026, with potential for two additional one-year extensions subject to funding availability. Successful applicants should demonstrate experience in habitat restoration, community engagement, invasive species management, and working within protected natural areas.
