    Brief

This contract involves the procurement of book shelves in four different heights (900 mm, 1500 mm, 1700 mm, and 2050 mm). The shelves can be either single-sided against a wall or double-sided in the middle of a room. The framework (ends and top) and intermediate parts, as well as the fixed bottom shelf, are made of laminated particle board. Inside or within the framework, there is a steel support structure and metal shelf boards. All shelves will be equipped with adjustable feet. The shelf levels are height-adjustable and preferably without any fixed intermediate shelves (this will be scored in the quality comparison). The load-bearing requirement for the shelves is 60 kg per shelf meter, ensuring that the shelves remain straight without sagging. Some shelves will be equipped with lighting and power outlets according to the plans. The lighting and outlets are to be procured separately by the buyer, while the cable boxes indicated in the plans are included in the furniture delivery. The request for proposals and its attachments specified quality and environmental requirements for the furniture, which must be considered in the production of the furniture. The products and services must comply with the directly applicable regulations of the European Union, Finnish laws and regulations, and directives issued by authorities. The furniture supplier was required to deliver a sample shelf for quality assessment. The sample shelf was to be manufactured according to the information provided in the request for proposals and its attachments. Only the color of the sample shelf may differ from the requirements specified in the request for proposals and its attachments, provided that the supplier commits to producing the actual shelves in accordance with the colors specified in the request for proposals and its attachments. In addition to delivering the sample shelf, the proposal must include a two-part product description. The first part of the product description must describe in writing and with illustrative images the technical execution of the furniture to be manufactured. The technical solutions of the shelving system refer to the material thicknesses of the materials used, the method and strength of the joints, the height adjustment used in the system, the method of detaching the back panels, and other solutions such as the required steel support structure that the supplier has implemented to meet the requirements presented in the request for proposals and its attachments. A comprehensive description of each material and solution used is required. The first part of the product description is a mandatory requirement for the proposal. In the second part of the product description, the supplier must describe in writing and with illustrative images the other execution of the furniture to be manufactured, such as the execution of the finishing. The second part of the product description will be used in the evaluation of the products to be procured and will affect the quality points of the supplier. The second part of the product description (as well as the delivered sample shelf) will be evaluated according to the criteria presented in the section Decision-Making Basis of the request for proposals.
