Brief
This construction project involves the second phase of the renovation of the West Quay and the demolition of the old quay, including excavation to the current harbor floor level. Previously, seven buildings on the construction site have been demolished. A new quay, approximately 230 meters long, will be constructed as a sheet pile structure with a concrete beam and back anchoring. The back anchoring will be created with 1:1 inclined piles. The front edge of the quay is planned to be at a height of NHN +3.02 m. A crane beam will be integrated into the quay structure, with a land-side crane beam built parallel to the quay at a width of 12.00 m. The crane beams will be founded using cast-in-place concrete piles or partial displacement drilled piles. To connect the new quay to the existing quay, a wave wall will be constructed at an angle of approximately 45° into the existing structure, anchored with horizontal anchors and anchor plates. The pier area between the quay beam and the land-side crane beam will have a paved surface with drainage facilities. After the quay is completed, the old quay structure, including pile foundations, will be demolished, and the ground in front of the new quay will be excavated to the required depth. The main works for the Kaiserhafen III upgrade include: Piling works: • Combined sheet pile quay: approx. 230 m • Wave wall for connection to existing quay: approx. 10 m with about 4 horizontal anchors • Foundation for crane tracks: approx. 30 cast-in-place concrete piles and 39 partial displacement drilled piles • Inclined piles: approx. 61 HTM piles and about 9 grouted anchors Concrete works • New quay including crane track: approx. 1,725 m³ • Land-side crane track: approx. 400 m³ Demolition works of the old quay • Heavyweight wall: approx. 5,500 m³ • Pile foundation: approx. 1,380 piles • Wave wall from phase 1: approx. 10 m with bracing, marking, and protective piles Earthworks • Land-based earthworks: approx. 60,000 m³ • Wet dredging: approx. 36,000 m³ Paving works • Paved area: approx. 6,500 m² Equipment • 1 storm pole, deeply founded with a free-standing foundation • Quay equipment consisting of approx. 6 edge poles, 7 access ladders, 14 holding crosses, and 6 cylinder fenders.
