Construction of Primary Schools in Montpellier

The City of Montpellier is seeking suppliers for the construction of a new primary school complex, Croix d'Argent, which will consist of 17 classrooms and accommodate 447 students. The project is located in the rapidly growing Croix d'Argent neighborhood, which has seen significant demographic changes over the past 30 years. The school will feature a pedestrian and cyclist-friendly access road, with limited vehicle access for emergency services and deliveries. The building will include 5 classrooms for preschool and 12 classrooms for elementary education, covering approximately 3,762 square meters over two levels. It will comply with the RE2020 regulations, focusing on sustainability and energy efficiency. The design incorporates natural materials, such as wood and straw insulation, and features passive solar management elements like fixed sunshades and strategically placed air intakes. Heating and cooling will be zoned for optimal temperature control, and the school will utilize geothermal energy. The roofs will be equipped with photovoltaic panels to meet environmental standards. The layout includes separate areas for preschool and elementary students, with facilities for administration, dining, and technical services. The project is scheduled to align with the school calendar, with completion expected by the start of the 2027 school year.
