    Brief

Louth County Council is seeking a contractor to conduct a comprehensive conservation assessment and method statement for the section of Drogheda's Town Wall located east of Featherbed Lane, between Laurence Street and Bachelor’s Lane. This project requires a detailed site survey, adhering to Level 3 standards of Historic England’s guidelines for recording historic buildings. The contractor will perform archaeological and ecological surveys, including mortar sampling and testing, under archaeological supervision. No construction work is planned for 2024. The findings from these surveys will support future applications for Ministerial Consent and assist in preparing tender documents for upcoming works. Additionally, the surveys will map and assess the areas adjacent to the town wall, focusing on the significant height difference of approximately 10 meters between the two streets. The results will also guide efforts to improve access to the town wall and explore potential tourism-related developments in these areas, subject to proper planning.
