Agricultural Services in Togo

The Promotion of Private Sector Competitiveness (ProComp) in Togo is a project co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. This initiative will run from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2027, over a period of 36 months. The main goal is to enhance food security, develop agro-industries, and create jobs in agroecological and organic sectors. Specifically, the project aims to improve agricultural productivity and production in key value chains, including pineapple, maize, mango, cassava, and soybeans, while also strengthening the position of farms. The project will achieve this through four key outputs: 1. Seed producers will adopt innovative agroecological and climate-smart practices to boost productivity. 2. Producer organizations, agricultural cooperatives, and agri-food companies will provide economic services to help producers access national, regional, and international markets. 3. Inter-branch organizations for priority value chains will develop and implement their development plans. 4. More stakeholders in selected value chains will transition to organic production and agroecology in line with current regulations. This initiative aims to enhance the productivity, profitability, and organization of selected agricultural value chains, focusing on production support, market orientation, and access to financial services. It will strengthen the connections between farms and agri-food companies, ensuring inclusive development that meets market demands. The project emphasizes sustainable growth through agroecological practices, organic value chains, and the involvement of women and youth, aligning with the government's action plan for transforming agri-food systems and the national sustainable development goals of the 2030 Agenda.
