Netherlands – Services for the Protection of Endangered Plant and Animal Species – Bird Counting

The European tender for Bird Counting involves: * annually inventorying and reporting on breeding bird species in the Sweet National Waters and coastal breeding birds in the Salty Delta; and * counting and reporting on waterfowl species in three geographical areas: namely Salty Delta, Dutch Continental Shelf (NCP), and the Lower River Area. Optional tasks (under lot E) include: o Flying an additional zigzag pattern (~370 km transect length) over the Natura2000 areas Friese Front and Bruine Bank; o Conducting a seventh count in a counting season annually starting in 2026; o Renting an aircraft needed for waterfowl counts on the IJsselmeer/Markermeer starting in 2027. No optional tasks apply under the other lots. The data from the counts are necessary to continue the two nationally comprehensive monitoring networks for breeding birds and waterfowl and to meet the information obligation of the European Commission. Rijkswaterstaat estimates a total indicative contract value for 10 years (including optional years and tasks) of 13.8 million euros excluding VAT. The indicative estimate (including optional years and tasks) per lot is: • Lot A: 474 thousand euros excluding VAT; • Lot B: 2.1 million euros excluding VAT; • Lot C: 3.1 million euros excluding VAT; • Lot D: 611 thousand euros excluding VAT; • Lot E: 7.4 million euros excluding VAT.
