    Brief

The Max Planck Society is seeking a competition manager for the preparation and execution of a non-open interdisciplinary two-stage planning competition for the new Life Science Campus in Martinsried. This campus will include 20 scientific departments, numerous research groups, an animal house, a large equipment hall, shared scientific facilities, administrative units, and central facilities such as a lecture and conference area and a library. The project aims to foster interdisciplinary research and collaboration among the Max Planck Institutes located at the site. The total campus project is estimated to require approximately 40,000 m² of usable space and 95,000 m² of gross floor area, with total costs projected between €520 million and €550 million. The first construction phase is expected to have a budget of around €270 million to €300 million. The competition will be conducted in two phases for general planning teams of architects and engineers, and the results will inform the revision of the current development plan. Key selection criteria will include scientific functionality, sustainability, flexibility, attractiveness, and innovation of the designs.
