    Brief

The city of Cologne is seeking suppliers for a high-performance LC-MS/MS system (Tandem-Quadrupole) with a nitrogen generator and laboratory table. This procurement is essential for implementing the new EU municipal wastewater regulation (KARL), which requires monitoring of trace substances in municipal and industrial wastewater. The goal is to accurately quantify relevant micro-pollutants, particularly pharmaceuticals and industrial chemicals, in compliance with DIN EN ISO 21676:2022-01, which sets a detection limit of ≤ 50 ng/L for selected substances. The system will ensure continuous monitoring of twelve priority substances, categorized as follows: Category 1 includes Amisulprid, Carbamazepin, Citalopram, Clarithromycin, Diclofenac, Hydrochlorothiazid, Metoprolol, and Venlafaxin; Category 2 includes Benzotriazol, Candesartan, Irbesartan, 4-Methylbenzotriazol, and 5-Methylbenzotriazol. As future water analysis requirements increase, the procurement of a state-of-the-art mass spectrometer (Tandem-Quadrupole) with UPLC is planned, featuring high sensitivity, fast MRM cycles, dual-polarity mode, ESI and alternative ionization modes, and extensive automation capabilities. The system must be powered by a nitrogen generator with a compressor to minimize operational costs and ensure a self-sufficient gas supply. It should operate with standard power outlets (Schuko, 16 A). The selection of a system with manufacturer-specific UPLC is mandatory to avoid compatibility issues, ensure uniform service, and reduce scheduling conflicts. A laboratory table suitable for LC-MS/MS systems must be included in the offer. Additionally, a full maintenance contract for 24 months (from installation) for the mass spectrometer, the pre-vacuum pump, and the UPLC is required.
