Festive Lighting Contractor for Aberystwyth (2026-2028)

Aberystwyth Council is seeking a qualified and experienced electrician to manage the annual installation, maintenance, testing, and removal of festive lighting and decorations throughout the town centre from November to January each year. Key Responsibilities: - Inspect, test, and certify all decorations and electrical components (PAT BS 7671) in September - Install icicle drape street crossing lights, dress Christmas trees, and set up lighting timers (15:00-01:00 daily) in November - Conduct weekly visual inspections and provide 24-hour emergency availability with 2-hour response time - Remove and store all decorations by 31 January - Manage traffic and ensure compliance with highway authority requirements Required Qualifications: - Skilled Electrical Person (JIB definition) with valid ECS card - Registered with NICEIC and ECA - G39 certificate holder - Valid IPAF-PAL (Powered Access Licence) - Knowledge of Code of Practice for Seasonal Decorations installation - LOLER safety inspection evidence - NRSWA familiarity (highway working requirements) The contract spans 3 years with a potential 2-year extension. Works cover 27 street crossing light installations, 7 Christmas tree locations across Aberystwyth town centre, and the iconic Town Clock Tower. All tools, equipment, and consumables must be provided by the contractor. Risk assessments, method statements, and a traffic management plan must accompany tenders.
