Brief

Wallingford Town Council and Historic England are seeking a qualified archaeological and heritage consultant to develop an Archaeological Management Plan and detailed cost estimate for capital works across three nationally important Scheduled Monuments in Wallingford, Oxfordshire: the Town Walls (Saxon burh defences), Wallingford Castle, and the Motte. The consultant will assess current conditions, recommend management strategies, and produce a specification to guide future conservation work including erosion control, vegetation management, tree stabilisation, and archaeological protection. This is a planning and design phase contract; the consultant will prepare recommendations and costings for conservation works to be delivered through a separate procurement process. The work requires expertise in archaeological management, heritage conservation, and monument assessment. Tenderers must review the PA2 Tender Brief and appendices for complete details on scope, deliverables, and pricing requirements before submitting responses.
