Alternative Payment Service for Unbanked Customers

The Payment Exception Project is a cash-out service that enables customers without bank accounts (including those without access to building societies or credit unions) to receive their government entitlements. This service is required to fulfill the Secretary of State's obligation to provide payment alternatives to the standard BACS banking process. The service ensures eligible unbanked customers can access their entitlements on their scheduled payment date through an alternative payment method. Suppliers should be prepared to handle payment distribution logistics, customer verification, and compliance with government payment regulations for vulnerable populations.
