Bridge Replacement and Road Construction Project in Lower Saxony

The Lower Saxony State Authority for Road Construction and Traffic, Aurich Division, intends to replace the existing B 70 bridge over the "Leda" due to safety concerns. This project also includes the adjustment and reconstruction of approximately 2 km of the B 70 road. Additionally, the bridge over the "Breinermoorer Sieltief" will be renewed. The Ledabrücke, located on the southeastern outskirts of Leer, was built in 1950/1951 and has significant structural deficiencies that do not meet current traffic demands, especially for heavy vehicles. The project aims to ensure traffic safety and improve the road geometry. The B 70 will be realigned over a length of 1,526 m, starting from the B 70/Südring junction in Leer. A new bridge will be constructed approximately 15 m west of the existing structure, designed as a bowstring arch bridge. The project will also enhance ecological connectivity for wildlife, including the installation of guiding structures for bats. A two-sided bike and pedestrian path will be created, connecting to existing paths in the area. The road will be widened to accommodate increased traffic, with a total sealed road width of 12.00 m, including three lanes and a shoulder. The project is expected to improve traffic flow and safety in the region.
