    Brief

    The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is seeking suppliers to provide microbiological testing services to protect public health in Northern Ireland. This contract involves the National Reference Laboratory (NRL) for Food and Feed Microbiology and Foodborne Viruses, which is essential for preventing illnesses caused by contaminated food, including bivalve molluscs. The NRL will offer expert advice and technical support to the enforcement process for food, feed, and related products. The contract is divided into five lots: 1. NRL for Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) 2. NRL for Campylobacter, Listeria monocytogenes, and Salmonella 3. NRL for Coagulase positive Staphylococci (including Staphylococcus aureus) 4. NRL for Escherichia coli, including Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC), also known as Verotoxigenic E. coli (VTEC) 5. NRL for Foodborne Viruses (including bivalve molluscs) This is a four-year contract with an optional two-year extension, valued between £0 and £750,000 (including VAT) for the entire duration. The FSA is not obligated to exercise the extension. The deadline for submissions is April 17, 2025.
