Lightning Protection Works for Lützen Primary School

The Lützen Primary School is located in the central area and shares its campus with the Free Comprehensive School 'Gustav-Adolf'. To ensure long-term public service provision and to enhance the Lützen school campus while preserving the historical monument of the former Lützen District Court, construction measures are necessary at the building located at Pestalozzistraße 2 in Lützen. The primary school operates in the renovated and protected building at Pestalozzistraße 4 (Building 1). The goal is to develop the Lützen Primary School as a two-stream school across all four grade levels. The former Lützen District Court (Building 2, Pestalozzistraße 2) will be integrated into the space utilization planning, and the renovation measures will be considered comprehensively for the entire building complex. The aim of the energy-efficient renovation is to achieve the KfW energy efficiency house standard 'Monument'. The planned renovation measures on the building envelope of the former District Court will be carried out in consultation with the Lower Monument Protection Authority of the Burgenlandkreis and the State Office for Monument Preservation and Archaeology. The building, constructed in 1890 as a district court with a prison wing, was used as a higher school or gymnasium from 1947 to 1999. It is of particular historical significance as the first known court building and the first gymnasium in the city. The building, referred to as Building 2 of the Lützen Primary School, is located on parcel 379/88 in the district of Lützen, covering an area of 1,418 m². It is listed as a single monument in the monument register of Saxony-Anhalt, characterized by its distinctive two-story brick construction with a central risalit, a cartouche in the gable center, and decorated window frames, dated 1899. Together with the city center, it is part of the designated area monument. Therefore, the renovation will focus on preserving the design of the original state, ensuring compliance with the essential building regulations and fire protection requirements from the building code of Saxony-Anhalt. All measures aim to preserve the historical monument. The former Lützen District Court consists of three building parts: the main wing, the middle wing, and the side wing.
