Construction of Multimedia Libraries in Essen

The city of Essen is planning a new central library in the city center. The property located at Markt 5/6 in 45127 Essen has been leased by the city. Approximately 10,000 square meters (including about 1,000 square meters in the basement) are available for the planning of the new central library. The redesign of the central library is based on the library development concept of the city of Essen, which recognizes that modern libraries contribute significantly to urban development as engines of revitalization in central locations. Libraries are currently evolving rapidly, transforming from traditional media providers to accessible gathering and event spaces, often referred to as 'third places.' The project involves the redesign of the interior and furnishings of the central library in Essen. Through this open European procurement procedure, the city of Essen intends to award the carpentry work for the 'Active Facades.'
