Atlantic Technological University (ATU) is seeking to procure a comprehensive Virtual Reality Bicycle Simulation Suite to support innovative research across multiple disciplines including cycling behavior, active travel, road safety, human factors, transport planning, and sustainable mobility. The suite will enable researchers to conduct controlled experiments and gather detailed behavioral and performance data in a safe, repeatable environment. Required components include: a standalone or PC-linked VR headset designed for research applications; a direct-drive smart indoor trainer with integrated power monitoring and data collection; a controlled wind simulation system to replicate real-world conditions; a multi-channel data acquisition system with minimum 4-channel capability and expansion potential; and a direct-drive smart bike trainer for outdoor or independent use. Comprehensive technical specifications and detailed requirements are available in the published tender documents. This procurement is funded through The Higher Education Research Equipment Grant scheme (HEREG), which supports research infrastructure development in Irish higher education institutions.
