Nest Protection Officers for LIFE on Machair Project – 3 Positions

The LIFE on Machair Project, managed by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, is recruiting three Nest Protection Officers to safeguard breeding wader populations across Ireland. These positions support predation risk management across three operational regions: Lot 1 (Donegal), Lot 2 (North Mayo and Achill), and Lot 3 (South Mayo and Connemara). Nest Protection Officers will monitor and protect wader eggs and chicks in machair habitats, implementing strategies to minimize predation losses. This work directly supports the recovery and maintenance of vulnerable breeding wader populations at designated project sites. The role requires fieldwork in designated protected areas and collaboration with the project team to achieve conservation objectives.
