New Surgical Center Construction in Augsburg

The Hessing Foundation is planning the construction of a new surgical center in Augsburg. The Hessing Clinics, established in 1868, are among the largest orthopedic facilities in Germany, performing over 6,000 surgical procedures annually. The current surgical center, built in the late 1960s, has undergone continuous modernization but still reflects the medical standards of that era. The new surgical center will consist of three operating rooms and necessary ancillary spaces, designed for short inpatient surgeries and hybrid procedures. It will be strategically located near the emergency department to optimize patient flow. The project aims for high-quality, efficient planning, with a total area of approximately 822 m² and a volume of about 2,380 m³. Key milestones include the start of services in April 2025, construction beginning in December 2025, and completion by December 2026. The estimated total project cost is €6.77 million, with specific allocations for different construction categories. The contract will include comprehensive planning services for the building and interior, structural engineering, technical building services, medical technology consulting, fire protection consulting, and building physics consulting, with a phased approach to commissioning.
