Youth Development Program in Sperrin

Derry City and Strabane District Council is seeking suppliers to participate in the PeacePlus Sperrin Youth Voices project. This initiative aims to empower young people aged 12-18 who are affected by rural isolation in the Sperrin District Electoral Area (DEA). The project will include workshops, training sessions, and various activities designed to enhance leadership skills, promote good relations, and foster peacebuilding among participants. It will also provide opportunities for cultural exploration and discussions on important social issues such as sectarianism, racism, poverty, and the influence of paramilitary groups. Additionally, the project will offer support and engaging activities during sensitive times, like the 12th of July and Halloween, to help prevent antisocial behavior among youth. The goal is to recruit and support 90 young individuals from rural communities, including areas like Plumbridge, Park, Donemana, Artigarvan, Ballymagorry, Aughabrack, and Glenmoran, facilitating their personal and community development. Participants will engage in citizenship programming to become active and responsible members of their communities, with a focus on cultural appreciation and challenging prejudice.
