Community Action Program: PEACEPLUS Operation Desperation

Derry City and Strabane District Council is seeking suppliers to participate in the PEACEPLUS Operation Desperation project. This two-year initiative is inspired by the founding of Foyle Women's Aid, which began in 1976 when women occupied the vacant Pump Street building. The project will focus on arts and theatre-based initiatives that address issues of women and domestic violence, incorporating both historical and contemporary perspectives. The aim of this community engagement program is to highlight underrepresented stories and recognize lesser-known community leaders within the council district. The co-design process has emphasized the need to amplify the voices of local women who have experienced domestic violence and to acknowledge the support provided by Women's Aid throughout their journeys.
