    Brief

    This procurement opportunity seeks a complete digitisation solution for archival and heritage materials. The successful supplier will provide a brand-new large format floor-mounted overhead planetary scanner system (up to A0 size) with integrated software, installation, on-site staff training, and three-year warranty coverage with no required maintenance until year four. Key Equipment Requirements: - Overhead planetary scanner with stand-mounted camera system for non-contact image capture of fragile documents, books, maps, and bound materials - Mobile scanning bed accommodating oversized documents (folios, plans, surveys, paintings, sketches, charts) - Adjustable motorised book cradle platform supporting originals up to 645mm x 860mm, capable of handling books up to 50cm thick and weighing up to 50kg - Flexible positioning to accommodate historic books with spine integrity concerns Technical Specifications: - Resolution: 300-600 PPI optical (higher specifications acceptable) - Conservation LED lighting (UV/IR and ozone-free) with colour temperature 5,500-6,500K and adjustable intensity (1,000-3,500 lux) - Scanning output: 48-bit colour depth; formats including archival TIFF, RAW, JPEG2000, PDF/A, and searchable PDF with OCR capability - High-speed data transfer via USB 3.0/3.1 (5GB per second) - Compliance with ISO19264 and ISO19005 standards for image quality and long-term preservation - Comprehensive metadata framework for searchability Installation and Support: - Equipment must fit within facility dimensions (2.5m deep x 3.5m wide x 3.0m high) - Ability to pass through standard door apertures for assembly on-site - Compatible with UK mains power (230V, 50Hz) - Training provided for up to 10 archive staff members - Minimum three-year warranty covering all defects
