Market Data on Food and Drink Products - Market Engagement Exercise

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) is conducting a market engagement exercise to gather information about the availability and cost of commercially available market data on food and drink products. This exercise will inform a future tender for the supply of such data to the Department. DHSC seeks information on data covering: 1. Sectors and Outlets: Sales and nutrient content data from retail shops (supermarkets, online, etc.), manufacturers, and eating out of home businesses (restaurants, cafes, takeaways, etc.). Providers should describe their data collection methodology, frequency, and data age. 2. Products Included: All food and drink products sold in retail stores (pre-packed, loose, bakery items, fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, sandwiches, formula, alcoholic drinks, diet products) and all items listed on out of home menus. 3. Product Data Required: For both sectors, provide data from at least the last 3 years including product name, weight/volume, pack size, price, sales volume and value, comprehensive nutrition information (energy, fat, carbohydrates, sugars, fibre, protein, salt), serving size, collection date, company information, and product categorisation. Optional data includes ingredients, nutrition claims, Nutrient Profile Model scores, and NOVA food processing classification. Responders do not need to provide all data types; partial responses are acceptable.
