Brief
This project involves the construction of an irrigation system covering an area of 447 hectares in the Virovitičko-podravska County, specifically in the Municipality of Lukač. The irrigation system will connect users to the public irrigation system of Lukač. Key components of the project include:
- A flood protection structure around the water intake facility on the Drava River.
- Water intake from the Drava River.
- A pumping station with associated facilities.
- A network of pressurized distribution pipelines with control valves and connections for irrigation.
Water for irrigation will be sourced directly from the Drava River, particularly during the growing season (April to September) when water availability is highest. Monthly irrigation requirements have been calculated based on crop types, with a focus on the most demanding crops such as tomatoes and peppers. The system is designed to handle a maximum capacity of 290 liters per second.
The water intake structure will house low-pressure pumps with a total capacity of 300 liters per second and a lift height of 13 meters. A 500 mm diameter inlet pipeline will connect the water intake to a settling basin, which has a working volume of 140 m³ for sedimentation of suspended particles. Water will overflow from the settling basin into a compensation basin, which will store water to ensure the pumps remain submerged and operate efficiently. The compensation basin has a working volume of 250 m³ and can discharge water back into the Drava River.
The pumping station, located next to the compensation basin, will ensure a minimum working pressure of 5.5 bar in the distribution system. Access to the site will be provided via a 6.5 m wide gravel road, totaling 770 m in length. Water will be distributed to end users through a network of pressurized pipelines totaling 16,781 m, with 38 control and shut-off valves and 218 connections for irrigation equipment.
The operation of the water intake and pumping station will be managed through a control system. The connection of the irrigation system to the electrical grid will be carried out according to the optimal technical solution report and the electrical project. The connection will have a capacity of 520 kW to the HEP-ODS network, and the construction of the connecting power line and transformer station is included in this project.
