    Brief

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is planning to extend its contract with DXC Technology for the Advanced Mission Planning Aid (AMPA) for an additional year. This contract is crucial as it provides ongoing support for the AMPA system, which is essential for air safety during missions. The AMPA system is used to generate mission data that is referenced while airborne, and therefore, it must be supported by a supplier accredited by the Military Aviation Authority (MAA). Currently, DXC Technology is the only supplier with this necessary accreditation. The original contract included support for the Hawk TMk1 and Typhoon aircraft until March 31, 2025, but due to delays and uncertainties, the extension will now cover an additional two years, aligning with the contract's new end date of March 31, 2026. Changing suppliers at this stage would pose significant risks to air safety and would not provide any benefits in terms of performance, cost, or operations. This contract is classified as a single-source contract and is exempt from certain procurement regulations.
