    Brief

Birmingham City University (BCU) invites suppliers to provide support services through the Personal Assistance Scheme, which assists disabled students and students with Specific Learning Difficulties (such as dyslexia) to study independently. The supplier will recruit, manage, and provide Specialist and non-Specialist Support Workers to deliver these services in collaboration with BCU's Student Inclusion Team. Services are available to DSA-funded students, non-DSA-funded disabled students, apprentice learners, and research council-funded postgraduate students. Support is provided during term-time when BCU is open for teaching, unless otherwise agreed. Specialist support is tailored to individual student needs as determined by DSA assessments or BCU's Student Inclusion Team assessments. Support services may include dyslexia support and study skills tuition, sighted guiding for visually impaired students, English language support, and mentoring. The key benefit for students is receiving coordinated support without having to recruit and manage their own support workers.
